]]>My favourite images, usually taken on film and then converted to monochrome. I usually realise I want a black and white image at the point of taking it. Earl digital printing was so inferior for black and white, that it was only recently that I could realise good quality monochrome prints without resorting to a darkroom.

]]>A collection of astronomical images, most of which are taken from a sturdy tripod, using a DSLR on its Bulb setting. Longer exposures were taken using an astrotrac. A fast standard lens, F1.8 and 35 to 50mm lens is ideal for large objects like the milky way, but smaller objects a long telephoto lens is needed, but this brings in its own problems, like longer exposures, and more effective balancing of the camera.

Dorset, Heart of the Jurassic Coast

]]>Water is a fascinating subject to me particularly as it is so challenging. Is it still or in spate? Is it ice, water, mist, boiling, aerated and bubbly or transparent and mirror like. It requires a physicality to take images of fifty foot seas perched on the cliffs above them, and yet a subtlety and patience to capture water at its most mercurial or diamond like. Photographing water takes us to the limits of our technique and our often our equipment beyonds its limits.
