You may have gathered from this website that coasts are one of my favorite places to find subjects for any of my cameras. I normally prefer to work methodically with a large format sheet film camera. But I have to admit that some subjects don't suit such a slow way of working. The advent of digital cameras certainly helps with these subjects.

I am fascinated by waves and the way in which light can reflect or shine through them giving a complete range of colours, pastels and saturated ones.

Another aspect of waves is its movement. You can make this movement seem violent or dramatic or both by playing with a relatively short exposure time like these here.

It is worth playing, with the focal length of lens used, and the exposure time as it creates different effects. The top image was completely frozen with a 1/250th second and the lower allowed some movement at 1/60th

The nice thing about digital photography is that you can see what you have shot at the time and erase those that turn out badly, saving the few better ones. With film if you made mistakes, you had to wait for another occasion to put it right.
